Pipe welders

( number of products: 5 )

Pipe welders for thermoplastic installations

Pipe welders are used to create permanent joints between compatible thermoplastic pipes and fittings. They support the installation and repair of water, heating and other pipe systems in which the mating surfaces are joined after controlled heating.

Important selection criteria include the supported diameter range, heater output, temperature adjustment and the equipment supplied with the machine. The number and dimensions of the heating sockets determine which pipes and fittings can be handled, while a clear control system and stable stand improve everyday use.

How does a thermoplastic pipe welder work?

A pipe welder heats the outside of the pipe end and the inside of the fitting at the same time by means of a matched pair of heating sockets. Once the required condition has been reached, both parts are removed from the sockets and joined according to the instructions for the pipe system. The correct heating time, insertion depth and cooling period depend on the material and diameter, so the values specified by the pipe and fitting manufacturer should always be followed.

The surfaces must be clean, dry and cut square before heating. Oil, dust, moisture and swarf can affect the joint. After removal from the heating sockets, the pipe and fitting should be joined in one controlled movement without unnecessary rotation or repeated adjustment. Excessive heating may deform the material and reduce the internal bore, while insufficient heating may prevent the surfaces from fusing correctly.

Choosing the diameter range and heater output

The supported pipe diameters should match the installation work carried out most often. For smaller systems, a set containing 16, 20, 25 and 32 mm heating sockets may be sufficient. One example is the YATO 800 W plastic pipe welder, which includes an LCD display and adjustable temperature. For work involving a broader selection of pipe sizes, the YATO 850 W pipe welder is supplied with heating sockets covering diameters from 16 to 63 mm.

Rated power affects how the heating plate reaches operating temperature, but it should be considered together with the control system and temperature range. For repeated installation work, stable temperature, clear adjustment and an indication of the heating status are especially useful. Cable length, machine weight, handle design and stand stability also affect convenience when the tool is moved between joints or used in restricted working areas.

Included equipment and preparation

The set should contain heating sockets matching the pipe sizes used on the job. Each diameter requires a pair: one element heats the pipe and the other heats the fitting. Their surfaces must remain clean and undamaged so that heat is transferred evenly. A non-stick coating makes heated components easier to remove, but it should be cleaned carefully without sharp metal tools that could scratch the surface.

Heating sockets must be installed while the machine is cold and disconnected from the power supply. Fit the correct pair, tighten the mounting and place the tool on a stable stand before switching it on. Depending on the set, the case may also contain a mounting key, pipe cutter, measuring tape or transport case. A square-cutting tool and a method of marking insertion depth should be prepared separately when they are not included.

Safe use and maintenance

The heating plate and sockets reach high temperatures. The machine should therefore remain on its stand when not held and must be kept away from cables, packaging and materials that can be damaged by heat. Suitable gloves, an orderly workplace and adequate ventilation are important. The welder should not be operated in wet conditions or left connected without supervision.

After use, disconnect the machine and allow all heated parts to cool completely. Remove plastic residue according to the operating instructions without scraping or using chemicals that could damage the socket coating. Inspect the cable, plug, heating plate and mounting points before storage. The machine and sockets should be kept dry and protected against impact and contamination.
