STROBOSCOPIC TUBE
The lamp housing is made in the form of a plastic gun. Inside the housing is mounted a xenon lamp with an electronic triggering system and a simple optical system in the form of a focusing lens and reflector. The pulses that control the operation of the lamp are taken from the ignition system. The power supply for the lamp is drawn from the car battery.
The lamp is used for checking and adjusting the ignition advance angle in gasoline engines. Proper adjustment of the ignition advance angle in accordance with the recommendations of the engine manufacturer ensures the achievement of full engine power with minimum specific fuel consumption. The internal combustion engine for proper operation needs the right amount of fuel, air and electric spark, whichóra ignites the mixture at the optimal position of the piston in the cylinder. The engine manufacturer determines the ignition timing by specifying the value of the ignition angle in degrees relative to the góral turning point (GZP) of the piston position in the cylinder. This is usually a few degrees ahead of the GZP. Poróing the degree scale on the clutch housing with the mark applied to the clutch flywheel under the light of a strobe lamp makes it possible to determine the ignition advance angle while the engine is running.
